Volunteers At Fatherheart... Penny gives cooking lessons for the girls. She brings all her own supplies and then lets them do the cooking. She teaches them the expense, the time, and all the details about the dish they cook with her. It is amazing, she does it all in an hour! We so appreciate her passing on her skills and preparing these girls for the days ahead when they will be on their own. Wendy is a local hairdresser. She recently came by Fatherheart office and spoke with our director, Bev Kline. She shared her story of her teenage pregnancy and how she struggled to be a single mom. Wendy said she just wanted to spend time with the girls and encourage them. The girls , being girls, were very excited to have her come and cut and style their hair. One after another, sat in the chair in the dinning hall and just like a beauty salon, there was lots of chattering between the girls and Wendy. She has shared with the girls that her teen pregnancy is now graduating from high school and she can hardly believe she made it. What an encouragement she is to our girls and how much she has served them. It's just great having a volunteer like Wendy come and be transparent with them. They love the time and attention, and she is a real example of how God can walk them through this moment in their lives.
