The Cries from Sudan - Itiya
We received the Harvesters newsletter today with a shocking story of Itiya, our cook in Sudan. Itiya is the heartbeat of the orphanage. If you have a baby , get Itiya. If someone dies, get Itiya. If a child is sick, get Itiya. She is the head cook at the orphanage we worked in and has been there 7 years. She came in an alcoholic and is now a believer! She loves all the children and they love her. She has a tiny house (Tucal) just miles from the compound. She stays there part time and sleeps at the orphanage the other days. Her oldest son is in high school (boarding school) in Uganda. Her daughter is in the HTN school and her youngest, Victor lives in the orphanage. She received news that the Lord's Resistant Army had killed all her children (who were at the tucal at the time), her grandmother, and aunt. They had been killed with an ax. Her husband was killed many years ago by this same army of militant soldiers. (LRA). This is hard news for us and such overwhelming grief for Itiya. We have sent a condolence letter by email, but what can words do? We are asking for the comfort of the Lord and protection over the orphanage. Please pray for their protection and the healing of Itiya! C&N
