DEAR DIARY, Everyone remembers the value of a girl's diary when they are pre-teens and teens. Usually they have a key and they diligently write in them their specials secrets. The Diary listens intently without chattering advice or criticism. The Diary is actually a friend to her. As our girls enter Fatherheart, we have placed a Diary on the steps with their name on it. It is a tool of communication between them and the house parents of staff. There is a pastel envelope glued to the inside cover with a tiny colored button on the point of the envelope flap. Inside the pocket there is usually a treat. It can hold a card, candy, a nick-nack, or a surprise. The girls return the diaries to the basket infront of our apartment when they are ready to respond or receive a love note from us. It is powerful what is put on these pages. This morning, I received one from a new girl. The pages were thanking us for another chance to start over and make right choices. As I read her heart put on paper, I was grateful for this little diary with the colored pocket. We will respond and write back today and place it on the steps filling the pocket too. Sometimes it is easier to put on paper our hearts than to share in person. The front covers have butterflies on them to symbolize a new beginning for them. Continue to pray for our girls as they sift through the past and choose better decisions for the future of themselves and their babies. Conley and Nancy
