PLACEMENT AT CHRISTMAS !
Elizabeth has been to Fatherheart before. Today, she is preparing to place her second child. A tiny, petite baby girl will be flying to Germany to be reunited with her sibbling this couple adopted 2 years ago. The couple is in the military. He is a doctor in the military. They have 2 other adopted children, all from our Living Alternatives branch. They have flown from Germany, are excited, and sober for this new placement. The baby girl, so tiny and petite, is facing a few physical challenges. They have come to make the arrangements with the doctors for the needed surgery and make decisions for caring for their new bundle. We have tucked them over the 2 nights, into Fatherheart in the apartment on the first floor. As I prepared for them, I felt, WOW, what can we say to them for this great act of compassion??? The room was quickly transformed, green Starbucks mints sat upright on both pillows, fresh sheets on the big king bed, and candles in the bathroom- all to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for opening your hearts and home to the precious child. Elizabeth had shared her heart struggles the night before as I drove her to the grocery store with her younger son, Jacob. Jacob and I spent 30 min. in the Walmart toy section, until he ended up with a plastic yellow flute! We bought his mommy a special reading light because he just KNEW she would like it! Our home is empty of pregnant girls now due to the holidays, but Elizabeth remained for this placement. As I listened to her heart struggles, I tried to support and encourage her with my own adoption story. This just keep coming full circle around it seems. A tapestry, a journey for others to walk on. Perhaps that is what God has in mind for us here at Fatherheart. Well, Merry Christmas. We are opening Fatherheart Christmas day for our guest. There were too many to fit in the trailer, so we are using the big house. Keep in touch. If you have snow.... send some our way!!!! Happy Birthday Jesus. Conley and Nancy
