This our re-entry pictures from Sudan to the US on Sept. 10, 2008. We were homesick, hungry for American food, and sad to leave the orphanage. We read letters from the children, dreamed of what lied ahead, and tried to relax going from 3rd World to the beautiful, blessed, USA! Our tiny plane held only 20, lifting off from a dirt runway. Carry on luggage in our laps, our snacks were juice boxes offered from a cardboard box at the airstrip. There was A/C in the plane and we were grateful for that. As the trip carried us through Amsterdam, we grabbed a few wooden shoes, coffee, and naps. We then headed to Dallas where a strong 6ft. 4" man met us smiling as big as we were. He grabbed up our heavy luggage seeing us dragging it due to Coach's back went out! Wow, did he look good! It was our youngest biological child, Sam, who is also in YWAM. We used his cell phone to call our kids and say, "We made it back". It had been 4 1/2 months this trip and 4 months at the first of the year. A new grandbaby, lots of changes in our family, and a new work was waiting us. We were overwhelmed at the first store, food was everywhere, and we had been facing beans, rice, meat only once a week, and vegetables when in season. Music filled the airport, people hussling around, yeah, we were back in America, look at the traffic and feel the humidity. We tried to dress for America, but with stains on our best clothes, large weight losses for us both, and tan skin, it was not hard to tell where we had been. We have lots of work ahead of us with our new housing, but we are ready to hit the road running. There seems to be a delay due "IKE"???? We will go the Houston for our family reunion asap, when the weather permits. C&N
